George Lucas in Kiev

George Lucas qualified to fight in U17 World Championships in Kiev, Ukraine. He won two of three matches in a fight-off following the Junior Nationals to secure a berth in the -60kg division for the U17 World Judo Championships in Kiev, Ukraine - August 11 to 14, 2011. His results in Kiev were not as successful. After gaining a bye in the first round, he lost by a yuko on penalties against an opponent from Portugal. The experience of his first international competition was valuable, as was the national team training camp where he got to work with the national team coaches.
